Windows 10 :
-So far the most angry people , are people that state windows 10 would log p2p traffic and can remove software it deams illegal. Alltough i presonally beleive they added the latest in their term of services to be able to remove spyware/addware. Has anyone actually have examples of this happening , I am very sceptical about all this windows 10 paranoia.

Z170 :
The only downside to upgrading to Z170 for me is the hard disk controller mess . it feels M.2 , stata-express are already obsolete ,... anything you buy of that now feels like it will not be backwards compatible with what comes maby standard out within the year , U.2 ,....

DDR4 : if you are a high end gamer you might want to recouperate your dd3 , but for new builds i would just skip ddr3 compatible issues all together , DDR4 -16gb = 100 dollars / DDR4 8GB =60 already. DDR4 is cheap enough at launch and prices of DDR3 probably will go up in the futher.

Personally I feel M.2 is here to stay. It makes sense on all the mobile an SFF platforms, and any common SSD will typically have an M.2 counterpart if the company also licences a PCIe controller. The fact that it's now part of Intel RST on more than one drive helps as well.

U.2, for the time being, will only be on the high end, most likely until more drives come out.

SATA Express is for all bar one purpose, dead. The only usefulness it has right now is in the USB 3.1 breakout boxes that comes with some motherboards.

Many boards support a little M.2 to U.2 adapter anyway, so if you wanna go high end with a 750 or w/e and you don't wanna occupy a PCI-E slot you can just use that. I imagine at some point there'll be boards with U.2 connectors built in...

There are going to be a few, such as the ASUS ROG Extreme. Check our Z170 motherboard preview:

The DDR3 prices have been dropping over the last two to three weeks. Around $30-35 for a 8GB DDR3 kit right now.

Any more color on the issues Intel is having with Alpine Ridge? I hadn't seen that reported elsewhere... Is this coming from partners such as Gigabyte or directly from Intel?
• Ian Cutress - Monday, August 31, 2015 - link

Best we can ascertain is that when it's ready it's ready. From the motherboard manufacturers perspective it seems Z170 was a little rushed in terms of time scale, along with Alpine Ridge sampling, hence why there are so few boards with the 1st revisions of Alpine Ridge and they're only using it as a USB 3.1 controller because at least that part is verified. Once we start seeing TB3 enabled Skylake systems, then AR should be good to go and we'll see what (if any) problem is/was.

Any written post on the Skylake Arch coming up? Kind of starting to loose hope here. .:/

I just wanted to say that it's REALLY fucking awesome that the podcast starts with Ian IMMEDIATELY talking.

It's so annoying when there's stupid intros and other BS. Thank God that you guys don't do that.
